Rhodes is an amazing island, with unique ancient and historical monuments and natural parks and valleys. It also has a great variety of landscapes, beaches with crystal-clear waters, and an ideal Mediterranean climate, with an average of 300 days of sunshine per year.
To help you explore our beautiful island, we can certainly recommend some places to visit during your stay: Rhodes Old Town, Kallithea Springs, the Valley of the Butterflies (Petaloudes), Seven Springs (Epta piges) and Prassonisi are all well worth a visit.
One of the most beautiful places on Rhodes is Lindos. It lies on the east coast of the island and is about 50 km from the capital. Lindos is a picturesque settlement with beautiful traditional houses, pebbled courtyards, breathtaking views and attractive beaches. Walking through the pedestrianised narrow streets, visitors inevitably fall in love with the place and can sense its incredible atmosphere. On top of the hill, above the whitewashed cubic houses and the little streets, rises the Acropolis of Lindos, one of the most spectacular monuments in Rhodes, where visitors will have the chance to see a medieval castle, ancient temples and sites, and enjoy a magnificent view of the Aegean Sea.
The Acropolis and the settlement of Lindos in itself are amazing attractions and some of the most visited and photographed sites on Rhodes. There are also other very interesting places to visit that have witnessed the great history and rich culture of Lindos. We highly recommend that you visit the ancient amphitheatre, which is situated beneath the Doric temple of Athena Lindia (300 BC), the Byzantine church of Panayia (the Virgin Mary), which is in the centre of the settlement and has an impressive bell tower and amazing 15th-century frescoes, the museum of the church, the tomb of Kleovoulos (6th century), one of the seven wise men of antiquity, and Saint Paul’s Bay, a marvellous spot with its own amazing history and overlooked by the ancient amphitheatre at the foot of the Acropolis.
Lindos is a very popular holiday destination in the summer, but if you prefer to come at a quieter time many of the shops and businesses are open fewer hours or closed for the winter, as the owners take this as their own chance to take a break. However, you can always find a supermarket open in the mornings, or a restaurant or cafe later on. The pharmacy (see below) is also open. If you are planning to take your holiday in Lindos in the winter, we suggest you rent a car so that you can still see the nearby villages or go to Archangelos, Afantou or Rhodes, where more businesses are open, even in the winter.
Lindos Allure villa is situated in the “heart” of Lindos, below the Acropolis and only a five-minute walk to Saint Paul’s Beach, a spectacular little bay with a beautiful chapel that is well known for hosting weddings for people from all over the world. The villa is also just a two-minute walk from all the restaurants, cafes, bars, nightclubs and shops. The spot is excellent, as guests can enjoy both a sense of privacy and relaxation in the villa and, at the same time, the opportunity to be in the centre of the lively streets of Lindos.
Guests can arrive by car and unload luggage at the villa. To maintain the traditional character of the streets, it is not possible to park outside the house, but parking is available just a two-minute walk away in Stavri Square.
There is an information office located in the main square and the post office is near the centre of the village, on the way to the Acropolis.
There is a regular bus service between Lindos and Rhodes, which stops at villages along the way so that you can explore the island further. The timetable is in the square and changes depending on the destinations and the season. To check this out before you arrive, go to: BUS SCHEDULE RODOS ISLAND from Greek National Tourism Organisation. The link is updated regularly.
During the day there is a taxi rank in the square. A taxi can also be booked at other times by phoning: +30 22440 31466.
There are also daily boat trips from Lindos to the neighbouring beaches.
There is a doctor in Lindos, who is available in the mornings. Tel: +30 22440 31401.
The health centre at the village of Archangelos (20 km from Lindos) is accessible 24 hours a day, every day. Tel: +30 22440 22400.
There is also a pharmacy in the centre of Lindos village, close to the villa. Tel: +30 22440 31294.
